    No Mgt topic this week...
    Sunday, September 30, 2007

Skipped Mgt lesson this week so cannot update on what i've learnt. But still somehow i really like M.Porter's model a lot. Skipped class to clebrate Kath's bdae, went for movie, and after the movie. Wanted to take photo but kanna faked by YuHua(sec sch friend who work at Cine), who say the shop open until 2am... I'ld still want to have the Photo taken some other day (I hope)...

Felt very bad that i went home first, hmmm.,, what i should do is to drive from home right?? So stupid of me, then can save $$$...

The only "Constant" in Life is "Change". So what we need is to be adaptable and flexible. My eyes are much better so i can see better on what i really want. Sometimes a little spolier do happen in between the way... But In mgt we learnt to fight till we die and not give up our business so easily. Even if we die, we must make the competitor suffer losses as well...
Do I sound evil? Hey come on, life is for the strong. Accountants only make the rich richer, and the poor poorer. So are we ethical? We help the Shareholders to make money, but what abt the worker? Walt-mart (Maga mart in US) still pay minimum wages.

Worldcom and Enron both have fantastic Corporate Governance report and an unqualified opinion and yet they still go burst... So are the auditors ethical?
Hace any1 thought of "what if" no one go wistle blowing? Both company might still be able to survive. Thousands of people may not lose all their pensions, and ppl would not commit suicide. So is it the right thing to do?

The Circumstances in life will not chang. and we need to overcome it and only then, the circumastances will become smaller. No man is an island.. So, please unlock your the prison of yout heart and be more receptive to others.

I'll press on toward the goal to win the supreme and heavenly prize.

Jus came back from FTC, didn't study but i did my "readings" and "notes" for abt 1 1/2 to 2hrs at home before going for lunch.... So technically i did not lie ^_^"
    BUSY BUSY BUSY week
    Friday, September 21, 2007

What to say? Been very busy since last week until now. Rushing to all the places, even for Xing Yi’s wedding… Very Hectic… Too busy until don’t know what actually happen last week.

BTW, I jus got a new phone, very cool… love it sia…

Anyway, been too busy to think about business strategy, so lets be natural for now, been trying too hard to take things into my hand. Perhaps its time for consolidation before the next push for a bull market.

Chye Hwee, is my hero of the match… He saved me from all the vouching… Yea… no more 100% vouching… When u talk to him you would be able to feel that he is very knowledgeable, so don’t try to play with him… His methodology and FRS is very up to date…
    Benchmarking.
    Tuesday, September 11, 2007

    Strategy Mgt Again....

Today we shall learn about one of the benchmarking - Competitors benchmarking...

Benchmarking is the process of comparing our operations against those of the competitors. They are usually those that are perceived to be the best performers or the current winner. The purpose of benchmarking is to identify and adopt best known practices that can lead to superior performance. So to put it off simply, it means learn from others by copying.

But it takes time for learning curve to sink into the organisation and how much do we really understand the competitor. They have their branding and reputation built up already. We need to do the right thing that will help us succeed and not jus anyhow wack the fellow. In paper we talk about Ethics, but in practice, Ethics is for those who succeed already. Insider trading is also on paper only... Even Debtors confirmation can receive thru client leh... Don't play play, but play it the right way.

But benchmarking do has its limitation. Benchmarking is just a tool to learn from others, and not a tool to win. If we copy others we can only be like them or be the same as them. We can never be better than the competitor. So what we should do is having a hybrid approach, learn from benchmarking and attack by CSF.
    Purpose in Life
    Monday, September 10, 2007

We often speak about finding our purpose in life, so often that we wonder if this is really what God wants us to do, to be.

To find our purpose, we need opportunities, and an opportunity is really the intersection where our talents meet the human needs. Everytime we do our mundane job (Call over, Casting and Stat Audit), we are moving closer and closer to this intersection where the opportunity of the lifetime lies. Our every day job, though we may think it is not our life purpose or what we’re created for, is preparing us for THAT opportunity, that when we see it, we are prepared and trained enough to embrace it.

So we must stay focus and not be move to the sides of the road that is planned for us. Distraction may come and you’ll think that this is what you really want, but is it? Time is the only evidence that will prove that the only goal that you should be going for is one that is in line with what you originally plan. Surrender yr heart, body and soul to what you have planed, towards your purpose in life and do not entertain distractions.

Quit playing games with your own heart. Sometimes there seems no way to be breaking free, sometimes you’ll feel like giving up and give in, wanna quit the fight. Again Life is never fair, and it will never be. So keep on keeping on, you’ll see the shadow through the rain, rainbow after the rain. When you look back, you’ll realized what a wonderful journey you’ve walked, what a wonderful experience you have gained.

So how much did I understand myself? Have I been living in denial, going for something impossible, so hard to get? Giving and yet not receiving? But good things are worth waiting for… Finally in the silent, I can find the meaning in life…

    IN EVERY HEARTBEAT
    LIES A DREAM OF GREATNESS
    AND DEEP INSIDE US
    TREASURES UNFOLD

REACHING FOR THE STARS THAT SHINES ABOVE
I WANNA LIVE MY LIFE FOR ALL ITS WORTH
    EVERY SUNRISE
    DAWNS A NEW BEGINNING
    AND WHEN THE NIGHT COMES
    A FIRE BURNS WITHIN

EVERYDAY I LIVE I WANNA GIVE
    THE VERY BEST OF ME
    SO LET THE DREAMS WITHIN
    COME ALIVE
    FLYING TO THE BLUE SKY
    SOARING HIGH ABOVE
    EVERY CLOUD EVERY MOUNTAIN
    IS A NEW HORIZON

    FLYING TO THE BLUE SKY
    REACH FOR SOMETHING MORE
AND THROUGH IT ALLI WILL STAND TALL
    I WON’T GIVE UP
    I AM STRONGER THAN BEFORE

    I’LL CROSS THE LINE
    LEAVE MY FEARS BEHIND
    EACH STEP I TAKE
    I’LL REACH FOR GREATER HEIGHTS
    FOR IN THE END

    DESTINY IS IN MY HANDS
    THIS IS MY CHANCE
I’LL GIVE THE BEST I CAN

Friday is Yellow Ribbon Day for us, and we went our to Shenton way to ask for Donation. We were very slack at frist, but then Evone is very chiong... Cos she rather stand under the sun to get more donation rather than standing under the shades. The day seems to be a very short one as by the time we went back office, we were all slacing up till the end of the day.

    Having a very "short" break

Oh... One of the few days that I look taller then her...
    All the AA1...
    Garfield...

The guys... Er... But where is Zhi Tao?

Oh... He is here with Xue Li =P

Attended Nick's Singapore Tour on Sat. He was born withput limbs and yet he is always positive in life and even can be a Motivational Speaker. Compare to ho,, we are really much better although we faces stress, betrayal, backstabbing, gossiping, and BGR problem, but how much bigger is the problem he faces compared to us? As humans, we continually put limits on ourselves for no reason at all!

People always say that "Its going to be alright" but it will never be unless you change the way you handle the circumstances. TALK is cheap... There is nothing much i could do to help, but i feel that sometimes people tends to keep things to theselves and try to act strong. Perhaps to prevent them from being hurt again. But one thing is gor sure, if you look around people around really cares for you.

Circumstances in life will not change. We need to overcome it and only then, the circumastances will become smaller. So keep on believing, as there is always some1 there with you. No man is an island.. So, please unlock your the prison of yout heart and be more receptive to others.
Pls pardon if i am repeating myself or the typo cos it now 330 am... Got to go sleep liao if not got to take cab to work tomorrow morning...
    Excruciating…
    Friday, September 7, 2007

Things have been busy but it is quite agonizing when you see something that is not right and yet there is nothing you can do. Some stuff are very hard to articulate but I hope that what I really want can be told through actions rather than words. But is there a mutuality of meaning? Action should really speak louder than words.

I know my goals and what I really want, and I’ll keep on seizing any opportunity that is available to me. Whenever u ask God for something, He doesn't simply give it to u; instead He gives u the opportunity to obtain it! Things are slow moving but it is better than not moving at all… It is only normal for a plant to grow and if it is stationary, it would mean that it is dead. So why should anyone keep a dead plant at home and keep wasting their resources on them.

Is having Ethics a good thing? 好人 = 好笨的人。It is really excruciating to be a 好人 and see that people succeed and yet you’ve failed to obtain what you want. Why did I not 趁人之危? I was taught that “Details would determine Destiny” but I have been very meticulous already. Are u really happy?

Yellow ribbon project = Help unlocks the second prison. But the greatest prison is lies within our heart.
    Never or first
    Wednesday, September 5, 2007

Its strategy management time again. Today Philip Woo talk abt we must try to be the first (winner) in the "market" or never make it at all. No one would remember who came in the second, they would only remember who came in first. It sounds unfair, but who has told you that life is fair anyway?

We are living in a broken down world and our destiny may partly be in our hands. Our action may not always bring happiness, but happiness will not come without action. So i strongly disagree any saying that guys hold greater responsibility as Gals can also be in a position of great influence.

Sometimes in stead of jus looking forward, we must really stop and take a step back so that we can see what we already have, and who is still here. So no matter what we must try to be the best of what we do, no matter how mandate it is.. e.g callover..
    Navigation through life
    Tuesday, September 4, 2007

Life is a road that we would need to keep going but there would be times where navigation through life would be a very hard process. The storms and waves may be against us and trying to push us back. And yet we would try to fight it. Is there any easier way for us to navigate through the storms? Trials and tribulation are promised to come and it would keep coming and coming. What we can do is to prepare for them and try our best to defeat it.

Fairy Godmother and Guardian Angles are meant for those who live in denial but God, friendship and kinship will always be there to be a light onto our path. Being alone is the worst way of fighting back. Keep believing, things would turn out well if we don’t give up and hold on to our dreams, Friends would always be there. If we learn to take things in a much easy manner, Life would turn out to be a much more enjoyable journey.
Opportunity and Threat Analysis (Michael Potter)
    Monday, September 3, 2007

In Management we learnt about SWOT analysis, which requires us to use our Critical Success Factors (CSF) to gain an strategic advatage over our Competitors. This is indeed very much applicable to our life as well. We would have to know our standard before we can plan our goals. It would be a very sad case when u tries to aim too high up and fall right down. So what are the opportunity available to me? There seems to be threat all around, but what are CSF do I have? "D" has said different “Market” would require different CSF, but it seems to me that if you are new to the “Market” the current competitor would have an advantage of Economics of Scales and familiarity so it would be a very tough fight.

Potter’s 5 Forces Model also talks about how anyone can use their CSF to block or force their way into a new “MARKET”. The current competitor has done a very good job in blocking new entrant and keeping the doors to the "MARKET" closed. Even Strategic Alliances seems to be not working. Is my Alliance too weak to help or has forgotten about the alliance? I do really hope my Alliance remember to do what is required. Haiz.., really need to study “Value Chain” to know myself better so as to better improve on my CSF. Weight is confirm a pitfall for me… Where is my confidence? Must remember that “Failure is the Mother of all success”...

(So Alliance, please remember to help me take notes when I skip class. My greatest competitor is myself)
    Vague Pathway
    Saturday, September 1, 2007

Things seems to be unclear to me these few days both physically (due to my eye infection) and spiritually. Goals that I want to achieve and plans that I’ve made seems to be getting ambiguous and further away from me. The road that I am walking on seems to become more and more difficult. It does make me wonders if I had made the right choice or should I go for something easier, something that can be achieved effortless.

There are so many things that I would want to achieve but then it seems that my effort do not produce the results that I expected. Did I demand too much for perfection or did I set a too challenging goals for myself?

But there is a saying that There Is No Such Thing As A Shortcut In Life. Shortcut don’t work out for long because they bypass the stages of growth and maturity that are necessary for a person to be able to handle (anything). God’s way for us is through hard work, diligence, and refusal to give up, where we can find a better life in no time.

After all the struggles, I realised that in life we do not cherish things that are easily attainable. Things that are easy to get, things that are discounted may be good but you will not cherish it. We tend to cherish more and treasure those that are hard to get, expensive and that require double our effort. So why do people go for the second best, when they can try to go for the best and know that it would be one choice that they will not regret.

I Must Get Results and Never Give Regrets.

(Hmmm… So did the choice of giving up NTU for ACCA a good one? That’s up to you to decide.)
Y am i so hot tempered.

Today, i was doing half yr review, and I was busy compared to others. Was late for work again, but then i dun think "some1" remebered that if i reached office later than her i am suppose to treat breakfast... anywae since she forgot so be it.. save $.. Haha.

Went to gloden shoe to have lunch and this is the 3rd time that the 2 tall gals join us... Feeled so pressured walking beside them esp. Isabel...

I was 3/4 done with my work at around 5pm where i thought i can rush and get it done by 530 but guess wat. The 60 yr old lady from HR called and ask abt the ACCA fees again..
Ah..... how many times must she call.. And at this point of time i realised that i am still as hot tempered as before. Haiz... Why? I thought i have changed.. I must really learn how to work under pressure.

Jing Xian (or Jing Xuan... watever..). came back to office after so long and she told me that she received some info and i am surprised on how info can be passed even to those who are on job for the past 2 weeks.

Things are not going so well these few days as i dun see any improvement. Did i not try hard enough or i tried too hard. Haiz...

Tried to study for Sundays' P1 and P3 mock exam but there are still a lot of readings to do... Sian...............
